We had quite negative experienced with San Miguel marina. We stayed in there around 8 times because on that side of the island there are very few marinas for visitors so it was purely for convenience.
The biggest point to make is the staff and how rude and useless they are! We were never answered on the radio - when we paid in the office the radio was going off and the staff in there said they don't answer because they don't know how to use it, unbelievable!
We ended up just radioing and going in regardless and this seemed to be the 'done' thing. We always rafted up because most of the spaces are used by charter boats or long term visitors. Everytime we entered and rafted, the marina staff would drive by in their buggies and not even look at us, let alone help or give us any information. It was very poor service.
The facilities are not good either. On some stays, we didnt have access to electric or water because they were taken by other boats or we were so far away our cable/hose wouldn't reach. We still had to pay full price for our mooring though!
There is wifi apparently but we could never find the staff available to sort it so we gave up and ended up using wifi in restaurants - which pretty much all of them have.
The marina itself isn't exactly pretty but you can walk out of the marina and across the beach to a parade of bars and restaurants which are quite nice. The food is good and very cheap and the people are amazingly friendly! If you walk up into the town which is basically a tourist/hotel resort, there are a lot of other bars and restaurants as well as some small convenience stores. These are really expensive so we did an online order at Mecadona and saved a fortune. The website translates to lots of languages so it's easy to use. They deliver to the boat as well which was great and the food is pretty good. We were told you can get a bus up to the retail park where Mecadona is and there is a waitrose, Iceland, hiperdino and more. We would definitely recommend shopping at one of these as opposed to the ones near to the complex.
The main positive is the fuel in San Miguel is very cheap so we filled up our tanks and were happy with the price.
For fuel, a quick stop over or to provision the boat, San Miguel marina is ok, otherwise we would say anchor!
